How do Army-Navy surplus stores work?
I recently was honorably discharged from the United States Navy and I have several uniforms that are in very good condition. I was wondering about Army-Navy surplus stores. Can I just take my uniforms to the store and will they buy them from me? I live near Seattle, WA. If anyone has experience with selling to an Army-Navy surplus store, I'd greatly appreciate it!
I am mostly wanting to sell service uniforms (not BDU's), like my extra sets of summer whites, working blues, etc. I am keeping the required amount in case I do get reactivated.
They used to sell surplus Army-Navy supplies, but now they sell just about anything. Some will buy used stuff, but some don’t you need to check. It is okay to sell your uniforms. If you are still in the inactive reserve though, you may want to keep at least one in case you have to report for a readiness drill. If you do get reactivated they usually will issue you new uniforms without much hassle. You can legally sell you medals, it is just illegal to wear them if you didn’t earn them.
I do believe so. Call and ask. There should be some up there around fort lewis right?
Yep..thats what they do
.
Yes you can but you are suppose to remove rank insignia and your name.
Don’t expect to get much for them.
Yes you can actually sell almost anything military related to them…. They are actually pretty reasonable considering that its used clothing and what not. Dont expecct to make millions on selling an old pair of BDU’s….
